Rerun Heaven - Nixons Revenge (1980)

"Rerun Heaven" has the distinction of being the first (or second) song played live at a Nixon's Revenge gig, a tribute to the fallen stars of television yore. A true band effort, the vocals were traded off among the members of the band - Jack Cheese, Kiko Misuki, Darlene & Donna and Mr. P. Alan played bass and Paul played drums and Brian played guitar. The crowd never knew what hit them, possibly because they couldn't understand the lyrics.

Historical notes: Written in 1980, there were less dead TV stars than there are now and, besides, they really don't show too many of these programs anymore, except maybe on "TV Land". For instance, the "Buffy" in this song is the "Buffy" from "Family Affair", not the vampire one. Also, at the time, only one Sgt. Carter (the one from "Gomer Pyle, USMC") was dead. Now, all known Sgt. Carters (including the one from "Hogan's Heroes") are dead. Also, Grandma Walton (Ellen Corby) is listed as dead in the song, although she wasn't at the time, not passing into "Rerun Heaven" until 1999. It is surmised, but not confirmed, that Desperation Squad played "Rerun Heaven" one time at Ronnie's in Monrovia in 1985 or 1986. The lyrics were updated.
